ETA M20 block with 320/6 cylinder head?

My 320/6 Baur's engine is tired, and I have access to a practically free engine from a 325e.

I am not looking for all-out performance, although an improvement would be nice. I have read that mating the short block with the 320/6 head (200?) works well.

If so, what would I need to swap from the 2.0 block to the 2.7 one? Oil pump? Water pump? Oil pan?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dude, the 2.7 has been covered so many 1000`s of times, do a search on 2.7 conversion and you should find all you need to know!

You need to change:

water pump
clutch & flywheel
If the 2.7 is from an auto you'll need a spigot bearing putting in the crank.
Front pulleys
E30 sump/pump etc fits ok just remove the rear bellhousing guard.
Engine mounts

new inlets/exhaust gaskets with 2.5/2.7 head gasket new bolts.

All your ancilleries should bolt up to the block ok.

I may have missed some things but they're the basics.

Just thought you need to check the block has the blanking plug for the distributor. some motronic engines don't have it or that maybe just the 320i's.

Thanks, Ben! The information you posted will be very useful. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do the swap soon.

--ALPINA--, sorry for the use of bandwith. I had initially searched for "2.7 conversion" and all I came up with was info on Motronic engines. I just searched again, but used "eta conversion" instead, and did find the info on doing the swap using the 320/6 cylinder head and carb.
