can someone help me out here and tell me what this plugis for? im guessing whatever is missing is preventing my car from starting..

Nope, nothing wrong or disconnected, just a diagnostics socket.

thanks, im really puzzled as to why theres no spark or fuel, i bought a new coil today, still nothing.dist cap and rotor are new.

Im sure someone on here can identify your starting issues.
Out of interest does anyone know what info that plug can actually provide?

apparently it just picks up bad o2 sensors and when your oil needs changing?

from what i have read the fuel pump will only run if the ignition is working as there is a connection from the ignition module to the fuel pump relay ... if you need a wireing diagram i have one for a american spec 320i 81-83 that i could email to you !

Take the fuel line off under the bonnet and check you've got fuel supply / pressure.
