AHA! i did wonder about a battery kill switch. so do you just remove the black knob thing every time you leave your car? where is it located? not in the engine bay i hope... don't fancy opening the bonnet every time i start and finish a journey.
thanks mark

I got a remote PIN immobiliser fitted at a local place for 50 quid. You get two fobs, and can set up a 4 digit PIN on each one. It immobilises the starter motor and fuel pump (if yours is electric) iirc. Pretty handy, means no one can start your car even if they have your keys.

My battery is in the boot. You only twist the knob a couple of times, you don't need to remove it.

Dont get the one with a chip cos if something happens and you cant start the car your screwed, like me i have 2 imobalisers shutting down the complete motronic system and the airflow system...also a cobra alarm system shutting down the starter motor and disbling the ignition system.. if i switch my imobaliser system on then you need the key to start the car so what ive done is i fitted 4 switches around my car inside very much hidden, if i switch them all on to the on position i can start my car without using the key fob - now thats only in emergency if i drop my key in water, battery unsuspected fail e.t.c.... being an ex car electrician you can do almost anything!!! this way i bypass my current sensored alarm and the external fitted imobalisers

loooooove it!!!

that's one thing i worry about...if my battery dies, for instance if my hazard switch decides to pop itself out and run my battery down, when i get the battery charged, will i still be able to start the car ok?
as my car is my daily, i don't fancy having lots of switches to switch, go into the boot etc every time i drive the car, i just want something that will make it harder to pinch without really affecting how i go about my usual ways. i'm hoping they'll give me 2 fobs.... if not, i'll ask for 2....

well, i got one fitted.
i got 2 fobs anyway and they don't work by battery, and will never need replacing. the immobiliser arms after 20seconds of turning engine off, and is disarmed when the key fob gets within a few inches of the ignition barrel. i tried starting the car without the fob near by (just to test it) and nothing happened, even the fuel and coolant temp gauges didn't work.
they said it's not like the old crappy immobilisers, and so if my battery goes flat (e.g. if i leave my lights on....or a more likely case, my hazard button pops out!) then it doesn't matter, once there is charge from the battery it will fire into life and will not start until the fob is near by.
not cheap, but not too expensive, and worth it for a little bit of peace of mind.
wanted to clean the car today and apply a new sealant i got...but the weather is going to be cack all weekend so i can't

There another little gadget you can get that automatically disconnects the battery if it notices it getting so low on charge that it won't start the car.

just hide a battery kill switch under the dash or something, cheap as chips, or just stealhly hide a switch for the ignition somewhere
