Prefacelift/Facelift Front Suspension Differences

Since I've never had a prefacelift car I don't know...

I know that the prefacelift has different TCAs, but are the front subframes and struts from the facelift E21s interchangeable? I have a friend that might buy a prefacelift with missing suspension...

I'm thinking Jason might be the man to ask on this one. I know that the reason I never ended up getting ARB's from the US was down to significant differences between early and late cars though.
