Ive bought a Weber 38 DGMS that has no choke cable with it. Do i just need to buy a new one, put a hole in the dash and connect it to the carb ? Or is it anymore complex than that ? Ta

a universal choke cable from any motor factors should fit.

Sweetables. Do i just need to drill a hole through the dash to mount the handle end ?

Also this carb i bought does'nt look like its got any fittings/bolts with it. Can all the old stuff holding the spastic solex in place just be used?

IIRC it needs an adaptor/mounting plate? Maybe someone can confirm this. Might be worth checking with Weber to see if they still stock them.

I put my choke control through one of the blank buttons to the left of the steering wheel, where the rear window heater is but on the opposite side.

Its got the adapter plates mate, and ive just ordered me a gen-u-ine bon-a-fide choke cable. Its the fitting part that im sure your gonna be getting a few messages about very soon. Just hoping i can use all the standard fixings from the solex

Ahh my bad. On a related note I've just received a rebuild kit for my weber. Anyone know if its a tough job?

standard fixings? you mean bolts and stuff?

I fitted a Weber on my 02 touring this morning and the only things needed changing where the mounting studs ( Solex one's were longer ) and the bracket on the spindle that connects to the throttle linkage. Everything else was a straight swap and I'm guessing it'll be pretty much the same for yours.

The solex has an automatic choke that has water flowing through it right ? If my new carbs a manual choke, will the water feed from the termostat housing need to be blanked off ??

where does it go after the auto choke? i cant remember.

I think you can either blank the pipes or just run a single hose to join them iirc?

Have'nt looked too in depth yet, I know it comes from the thermostat housing into the auto choke, then comes out the other side to i dont know where. What would be the best way to blank it off ?

Hose with a bolt as a plug? I would just run a hose between the 2 outlets.

I fitted a 38 DGAS recently, but it was the complete Redline kit. This one is also fitted with a manual choke, I just put the cable through the rubber of the wiring loom on the left side of my car (LHD). I used a clear fuel filter just in front of the inlet side of the carb. In the Redline instruction they connect the coolant hoses together, I blanked them of first but reconnect them later with a universal connect from my local parts store.
