Hi,
I'm just trying to sort the brakes on my 320. The caliper is seized on the front, and broke a pipe on the back strapping to the tailer. I've been in touch with someone breaking a 323 and I asked how much for the rear disc set up and the front vented calipers and discs. He has given me a price of £280 for all that.

Is that a good price? Also is the master cylinder and servo the same as mine or will i need then too?

the rear disk set up only fits 323i rear trailing arms so does tha price include the rear arms

Ah no it doesn't. Maybe I'll message him and ask about that too. How does the price sound, fair?

323i Rear trailing arms are worth 100-150, pair of front calipers 50, pair of rear calipers 40.
Second hand disks aren't really worth anything
I'd recommend you buy new disks if your gonna go to the effort.
Also, e30 rear calipers (which bolt up to the e21 323 trailing arms with minor mods) give you much better pad choice and are a better design.

323i fronts are a good upgrade for a 320.

going to rear discs i wouldnt recommend unless your guna be doing trackdays and driving it hard..... the drums are good if in servicable condition. the main reason being that the money is better spent else where. also having the drums means your handbrake works!!

main problem with the drums is the manual shoe adjusters in the back plates, if these are siezed then its a twat. leaving you with a longer and longer pedal as the shoes wear.

Thanks for the advise guys. I think I'll get the front calipers then. And get new cyinders for the back. I have been repaired the brake pipe now. All the bleed nipples seem to be a bit rounded. They are pretty small, are they always a pain in the asre?

I have early e28(518i) shoes fitted with automatic adjusters fitted to my car because the manual adjusters on my back plates were siezed .I just cut the manual adjusters off with a grinder and fitted the e28 kit....e28 shoes are identical to e21 shoes but dont have the slot in them for the manual adjuster in them....e21/2002 turbo/e12 (518) all have same brake shoes ..e12 (518) and e28 (518i) same brake drums...
