hey, iv had this car for about 5-6 years now n my dad owned it for about 10years befor me.
i remeber my dad tellin me when he bought it the guy said it was rare for some reason and he didnt want to sell it but had too so the ex wife didnt get haha. iv look on the net for cars similar but havent found any just yet.
its a 1980 323i but has ///m logos on the grill and rear spolier(soft rubber), recaro front and rear seats, 13' bbs wheels ,engine oil cooler, bilstein suspension ,3 spoke alloy leather steering wheel with removal leather center, ///m strips up the sides, twin exhaust system, 4 speed manual (the shift feels weird compaired to other manuals and close ratio )
they guy dad bought it from said every thing is factory standard and he bought it brand new.
i got a few pics of it the other day (there wasnt much room) as i want to start the whole restore process now.
any way let me know wat u think

Looks like a 323i with a lot of the options boxed ticked, in some countries they done a motorsport version which was a 323i but with all the options already fitted.

The stripes are not original. And the M is not for the car. It has been resprayed some time, but maybe I am wrong and it have been deliverd that way :?

from australia. thanks for the info, i tryed a few vin number sites but whit no luck. pretty sure its the same as it came outta the factory well thats wat the guy told my dad anyway??
iv always wanted to do it up but never had time or the money, it was immcaulate when my dad got it but its been off the road for 8-9 years now n sitting in a rusty old shed.
i remember driving it when i was 17 and it was an awsome car to drive. i found dyno sheets in the car its a2.3l and made 181kw(245hp) at the tryes,
me and my brother are both mechanics and i have a mate whos a crash repairer/spray painter so hpoefully the out come will have it back to the way it was.

i dunno but it looks really fecking cool! get it restored and on the road where it belongs!
245 bhp?? whats it had done? thats no standard power figures. even a breather on 325i e30 engine struggles to make more than 200bhp?

I shouldn't worry too much about it having a 2.5 instead of a 2.3. They are both m20 engines and unless you were building a concours car where originality is king, it's not going to devalue the car. You'd have to spend a fair chunk of cash to get a 2.3 to perform like a 2.5 so if anything, it's a bonus! Might be worth you going on the E21.Legion site as there are plenty of e21 enthusiasts near you.

Looking forward to seeing more photos once you clean it up a bit.

Australia did release a motorsport version - same as the JPS only white (or grey). Couple of things are not right. The front spoiler is wrong - it should be a 1 piece with bar integrated into the unit. It should be a 5 speed manual (overdrive box). It may have been done up by a dealer to look like a motorsport or it could be factory - many things were done to be different in the 80's. It should also have an LSD as well as the recaro interior. Mechanically they were standard. I owned a genuine motorsport for a while - another car I should never have sold. The stripes can be reproduced by other places for a lot less than the $1000 you suggest. Have fun with the restoration. Good to see another Oz special being looked after.
