found this in schmiedmann site...
No idea- about short sifts, and no experience with any...
Would you suggest me to fit this?
What improvements will I have? in feeling?in driving?
how about the quality of this product?
(and also...they have 2 types, one cheap, and one expensive...)
Opinions welcome...

Short shift makes gear change much more positive, with short snappy throw. Hard to explain in words but yes, its a good idea. I much prefer my car with one.

apparently the shifter from a z3 is one to use and they aren't that expensive from the dealer about £40 i think. well thats what the e30 boys do.

Z3? I have seen this before...Is this a straight fit or does it need any modifications to install?

Have a quick read over on Forum 5, a few of the E28 M535 chaps have gone both routes

I thought it was only the Z3 2.8 one that fits the M20 Gearbox.

Curious to know why that one is the ultimate solution DC? the 2.8 Z3 is plug and play. I have the Z3 2.9 fitted to mine. Even though it's an E30 gearbox, fitted fine and has tightened up the gearchange nicely. Jimmi ALPINA did a good write up on it somewhere, otherwise register with the E30 zone and there is a how to guide. Parts cost about £40 if I remember correctly

This is going to fit on my 5-speed eco? (M10 is my engine) No mod needed at all?
If yes, can anyone send me a link to order one?

iirc there are various linkages that will fit giving various levels of movement. I think mines a Z3 one too as far as I can recall?

23 2.8/m is the shortest one to use and its alittle tight, only good for a dog leg gearbox if you want a rapid gear change otherwise a standard overdrive id use a z3 1.9 and its still short and feels overall better than stock! it will fir an m10 shift plate and there are mods you need to do its never a straight fit on the e21, you will need to cut the plastic ball cup slanted and grind around the center so the gear shfiter rod fits in then use new bushes and clips to connect it up...

hope this helps. why am i still here? gotta go c-ya...
