I'm about to buy summer tires soon. What would you guys recomend for 15" rims, tire size 195/50 and 205/50. I'm looking for good quality tires but I don't want them to look very modern (Toyo T1R for example is not the way to go).

Thanks in advance

Marcin

How low is your car mate ? Anything under 50 for the side walls does'nt seem to fill the arches enough on mine and its -60mm. Id personally go with 195/50/15 front and 205/50/15 on the rear. I quite like Bridgestone, i dont run them on the car at the mo cuz its got some cheapy tyres on but i use them on a van and they last a long time.
I used to have some Viking tyres on when i first got it and they were quite retro looking. Pretty good aswell.

Continetal premium contact 2 have been tested for 12500 km. Good grip on wet road.

I wouldn't advise Pirelli as I found them to be pretty poor. Toyo888r are great tyres but Fulda are a good midrange tyre.

I have a set of toyo proxes (the same measures as you want them) on my car and they are very good

i dont understand you want an old looking NEW tyre? :nah ?????????????????? especially on a 15 inch rims which in the early 80's was like having 24" 3 piece uber rims now!?!

Surely you want a tyre that lasts well and is the best at keeping your car on the road!? i.e a modern high performance design using the latest technology and materials?!

i have never heard anyone say "damn I need to change tyres cos they are not period" Who even LOOKS at tyres and thinks "oohff i like them cos they are a 30 year old design!"

actually i look at tyres and long for retro periodness.
nothing worse then a lotus elan wearing fooking nankangs!!
for example in our little showroom at work theres an original audi quattro 20v turbo with genuine 17k on it. its got pirelli original p700z tyres on it. anything else just wouldnt be right.

i know what you mean.

And in a lot of cases, cars that are more performance-orientated has suspension design in conjunction with using a particular company model of tyre e.g. the Countach LP500's setup was developed to use the then-new Pirelli P6 tyre.
Although it has to be said, later tyre technology does help an E21 handling no end if you're running 15" wheels.

Hi,
You should get toyo888r for use in summer. It has more grip on wet roads as well.
I am already using these tyres and never felt a problem.

you're buying a tyre based on how it looks rather than how it performs? :shock these things could save your life. i use toyo proxes (what you have ruled out because they look too modern....absurb IMO) and i'm never going for different tyres on my E21, they're fantastic in everything but snow. couldn't care less how they look, they'll help my car stop quicker, which one day, could stop my car hitting another car or whatever. at least my car will still be alive.

I also run toyo t1r's - they have awesome levels of grip, wear out fairly quick as they are soft sports tyres I bought a whole set for £120 - you simply cannot do better for the price.

i would never use any other tyre on my e21.
