When the lighter's not working (the lighter removable part, when pressed, it stays inside, and does not pop-up as it does not get hot) and not 12volt out let working (no charging), is it time to start looking for a new part, or is it reparable???

OK, I have to make an update here, actually the problem is not exactly as described above, it's a bit more complicated...:

Lighter works normally. (switch gets hot and pops out by itself)

When I try to use it as an ac connector, (to charge a gps, or a phone etc) it works for some minutes, then it stops working, and it does not work as a lighter anymore as well!!!!
After that, I try to use the lighter (pressing the lighter switch inwards, waiting a bit and as it does not pop out, pulling it outwards myself), and after a few efforts, the lighter starts working normally (switch gets hot and pops out by itself)

Then all starts again when I decide to charge something...

Maybe my car is a living creature (something like "Christine"???) and makes its own decisions about charging phones or not...

...WTF....???
It has started working normally since the weekend....!!!

(I am starting to fear...!!! )
