Hey guys,
As of 20 hrs ago Ive aquired my first bavarian girlfriend, the particular individual is a Black JPS liveried E21 323i Motorsport......unfortunately in her younger days when she was white, somebody had the great idea to COMPELTELY resparay the car in JPS livery and create somewhat of a replica, unfortunately the previous owner to me in his younger days was fooled by the facade and was dazzled by the schwartz paint and shiny gold accents and bought the car (for way too much) unbenowns to him that it wasnt infact a genuine JPS,

About me:
I have owned a few "sporty" cars in the past, including, 1.9 205 Gti, AE86 GTV Street car, AE86 GTV Track car, and a 71 Benz 280 :) my only experience with BMW's in the past was my father owning a 2002tii, and an E28 535M, both of which still have a definite aesthetic appeal with me

And here we have the specs:
323i
Black
Manual
LSD
New Bilstein shocks
High temp pads
Original Recaro interior in very good condition
BMW Motorsport Steering wheel
"fresh" motor with unknown "headwork"...from what I know its a little more spritely than your regular 323i
New exhaust, still maintains that BMW sound throught the whole rev range, reminds me alot of Tony Longhursts 635 :)

Plans:
Hopefully do a little more work suspension wise, it handles beautifully now but we always want more right?
Still 50/50 on retaining the JPS look, thankfully the wheels are now silver and the Z pillar badges have beer removed, So thats a step in the right direction
I have access to Avon formula Ford slicks, so thats some fun for summer :)
Will post some pictures sooner rather than later
Cheers Guys

Welcome Minihorse.Listen,if you're convinced it IS an original M-Sport 323 and they did make them as Edition "M",in Red or White ,i believe, then ditch the JPS nonsense and put it back to how it should be.You can check them on the blue menu list under Special Editions.
Where abouts are you?
Look forward to the pics!

Welcome here! I like the JPS editions (we have one of these among us here on the forum, see pic below) and original or not, it's your car so make her look how you like it best!

Cheers for the kind words guys, Its definetly an Australian (yes I'm in australia) delivered 323i Motorsport, as I checked the VIN with a good friend that works for our local BMW dealer, as for pics I'll post up as soon as I have a nice day to take some good photo's

the list of potential modifications is mounting at an incredibly fast rate ;)

Blatantly stolen from the bmwe21 blog thingy, but this roughly explains it,

"JPS - John Player Special limited edition (United Kingdom & Australia)

These cars were introduced using the successes of the JPS sponsored racecars.

Available: 1981-1982

Description: All cars were black with gold JPS striping, JPS decals on C-pillars, dash plaque with production number, JPS horn button

Mods: Bilstein gas pressure shocks, Motorsport lowering springs (-25mm), black cloth Recaro sports seats, Motorsport deep front spoiler, suede three spoke sports steering wheel, sunroof, BBS/Mahle original Motorsport alloys in 7x13” with gold centres.

Optional: A/C, dogleg gearbox

Available as: 323i (no engine mods)."

Was more of a "dealer special" than anything, I think the popularity is more to do with the rarity of a tobacco company edition car
