The ECU i have for my coversion is from a 320 E30 but I was also given a 325 chip by Jimmi a good while back. Are the 320 and 325 ECU's the same other than the chip inside ??
And if i were to get a performance chip off the internets what's the best one to go for ?? Cheers

Hiya Gonzo, there are quite a few chips on the market. Some are supposed to be good, some do more damage then good. You might want to do a search on E30 Zone, as there are a few number there. I actually have a chip by Ant from -tech off there, but in two minds on fitting it or not.

If its the original 325i chip, then that is the one you want to be using unless you want to get a Alpina 2.7 chip from ebay. About £40

Far as i know its an original 325 chip and i have an original 320 ecu, is there no problem putting this chip in this ecu ??
Do the Alpina ones add 10hp or so ? Ta

they say the Alpinas ones do but i'm not convinced myself. I have an original 2.7 chip from a c2 but i didnt put mine on the rolling road before i put the chip in so god knows. As for the 325i chip, i am pretty sure you can but check with Murran or Jason.

2.7 chip is no use on a 2.5. I learnt the hard way having been sold a supposed 2.5 chip that turned out to be one of Ants (A-tech) 2.7 maps. As a result it over fueled at several points and ran way too rich. *note to self buyer beware* Either Ant or Speedtouch on e30zone can supply the correct one. IMO the best one is the hi-torque/fast road version.
