Has anyone installed a sunroof panel on there car at all ??? Taking it off was easy as you move it back then take the guide rails off so the guide shoes on the panel can come out. Installing seems like a whole different ball game though.
I cant get the guide shoes under the guide rail !!!! And if i take the guide rails off, the cable just goes all over the place. Im having real trouble with this and am doing more damage than mending. Any help pleeeeease!!??

my old mk2 golf, had a very similar sliding steel roof to e21's.
i had to strip and replace the rear drip tray on it. i remember struggling to fit it all back together.

cant really give you any advice as it was years ago!

help failure im afraid!

hows the chassis rail welding thing going on?
my dad has bought me a welder (well he's paid half!) a clarke 150te turbo! ive got a whole host of welding planned on mine over the next bank holidays!
ive re-made my bucket seat frame tonight to lower the seat! need to shim the teering column down with a couple of washers somehow.

i feel your pain - i had a corrado g60 with a leaky dodgy sunroof. what a complete and utter nightmare that was to replace.

heres advice from the nas80 dojo - put some weight on the panel (to push it down) and then do up the little screws holding it on to the rail. it wont scratch the panel as badly when you crank the handle.

Yeah man, had to put a bit of weight onto it to get it sliding back. The mechanism on it seems to be rather shagged by the looks of it.
Anyways.........good news is i managed to get the s.o.b on this morning :banana :banana :banana That deserves 3 banana's!
I have devised a super, secret, special technique that i will share with the person who can beat me in mortal combat. But if anyone is having the same problem give me a shout and i will probably just let you know. Not much point trying to explain it cuz if you aint doing it, it wont make much sense.
One thing i now know is that I will never buy a car with a sunroof ever again
