Bonnet hinges - help needed

OK guys I stuck the bonnet back on today, it seems to go too far back, and springs itself down rather than popping up so you can slide forward off the hooks. I even got my finger trapped between the rear edge of the bonnet and the door (Shaun was helping me put the bonnet on and pushed back at the wrong time, the spring loading not being right plus the backwards push got me well and truly trapped!).

Can someone who has an E21 with the bonnet attached properly grab some pics for me? I haven't seen a bonnet hinge assembled properly for a very long time! Or has anyone else had the same issues/have some top tips on doing it right??

Thanks mate. Cut on my finger is throbbing a fair bit, pictures to explain why the car attacked me will be useful!

I can drop round to your unit with a fully attached bonnet, no probs. Just let me know when you're next there

Part of the linkage bit is missing on the nearside. It got all twisted and when I finally got the bonnet open I launched it into a skip.

These are on route as we speak.

It looks like there's an extra bit on your hinge setup there. I just have a single plate which fits to the body, your pics show a second piece either side = presumably they hold the internal torsion bar in position and tension it the right way.

I'll have to see if I have the other bits on the spare bonnet off the slug. If not I'll be on to Rob again!
