Just out of curiosity, as i can't find it here in the maintenance schedule and my handbook is 150 miles away, how often should the rotor arm and dizzy cap be replaced? car coming up for a service soon and not sure whether to bother replacing them or not. i know you'll say might as well but i'd rather stick to only what's necessary as i'm on a bit of a budget at the moment. coolant was done 11months ago but has done just 6000 miles in that time (where i'm at uni, the car just isn't getting used, i expect to cover between 3-4k miles in the next 12 months, so hardly any.

i was thinking all it needs doing is oil and filter change, air filter, spark plugs, valve clearances(???), fuel filter, what about brake fluid? this was done 10 months ago, i thought it needs doing every 2 years, give or take?

It should be fine. Just clean it and check the electrodes aren't pitted and there are no cracks in the cap itself. Clean the rotor arm contact too. Oil and filter every 5k is no bad thing imo.

yeah will do it myself. oil will have done about 3000miles (maybe a tiny bit under, but not by much). gearbox and diff oil were done less than 6 months ago so that's fine. so think it's just a simple service to be honest. only thing i might get someone to do valve clearances as a little unsure!!

car doesn't really need anything else to be honest, touch wood! it's been good as gold since last summer when i had that faulty brand new rotor arm which was duly replaced. other than that it's been fine for over 2 years now i think.
