What a flippin' palaver.
Got the new ATE master cylinder pretty quick from Germany via my local MD.,.so quodos to them.
Fitted it last night....my garage has no light, so just mounted it, connected pipework, replace reservoir and filled with fluid.
Thought an overnight of gravity might help things along.
Popped out this morning after dropping the boy off at pre-school and spending a exhasbersting 45 mins in the bank trying to transfer some dollars..
Mood was not good walking home, but lightened somewhat by thoughts of working brakes....
Twas not to be, well not initally anyhoo....still nothing..pump, pump, pump..soggy, soggy soggy.
Collared my retired neighbour to help, as I suspected the one man homemade syringe system was not helping matters.
Still, pedal to the floor, fluid from fronts, nothing at rear.
In the end I loosened the connections to the small valve ( booster ?? ) bolted to the opposite inner wing...and listened to the whoosh of escaping air....
Well, once connected back up..( after stroking the pedal to check fluid was flowing, and Eureka....finally...after lots of up, down..pump, up downs...I have brakes.
Nice firm pedal, though to be honest..pretty poor by modern standards...
Maybe another careful bleed, and perhaps some braided hoses will improve matters more...
