Altenator bracket weak

alright, i picked up my e21 316 1983 very cheap, it runs fine but the alternator bracket seems very weak. when you rev the engine it pulls the alternator towards the rad causing the fins on the alternator to cut my radiator top hose. is this comman for e21s? cheers

No. Is it just loose or has something broken ??

Look at the alternator bushes mate, often knackered. You can buy alloy replacements on ebay.

Long time since I bought any, search on ebay. I think I have a set in my workshop somewhere but not seen them for a year or so!
