What car - project - maybe track - drift

Seen as the goose is nearly ready to leave the nest im tossing a few idea's around for what to put in its place in the fantasy factory.
What would you guys think would be a nice project car to go for next ?? It does'nt have to be a BMW. I was thinking...(dont shout at me) about an old Nissan/Datsun. Maybe a Mk1 Micra to turn into a track car. Im also considering another E21 but the prices for them are going up a wee bit lately.
What cars have you lot had experience with in the past and do you have any good idea's ???

My mates got several old nissan/toyota's Starlets, 120y etc down side is parts.

I would go for an mx5 mk1 import, i was offered one for £500 with T&T

nissan s12 to play with boost

e36 compact better wieght distribution than an e30 easier to put bigger engien and brakes and lighter than a e36

Citron AX gt or gti (640kg)

I would go for an E30, lots of parts and possibilities. I'm a building a V8 E30 as a tracktool with a friend myself.

MX5 with a big engine would be nice. Thought about an E30 but something like a V8 would probably be way over my head and i dont want something thats going to take years to complete. Need something fairly simples

Boring? Wel that depens on the engine I off course. I hope our 350whp V8 e30 won’t be boring. :D

And a V8 isn’t exactly a project that will take years. If you’re an enthousiast hobby mechanic I reckon half a year (in free time) will be no problem.

MX5 with OE engine is an awesome track car. Strip it out and remove everything you don't actually need. LSD's are cheap enough too. You'd be hard pushed to find anything quicker round a track for the money. If it doesn't have to be RWD go for a Pug 205 or 106. Again, just strip it of as much weight as you can. Decent rubber and some stiff springs and off you go.

Ebay has loads of race cars usually. There was a full race prepped Pug 205 a few weeks back and the guy let it go for just a few hundred quid. I wouldn't build a track car if I were you as the costs are always more than you'd think. Let someone else do the expensive donkey work.

Haha, That'd be a handfull on a track!
Liking the Nissan Sunny GTI Nas, me dad used to have one donkeys ago.
Did you guys see that MK1 Golf on my build thread ?? The guy who owns that is going to flog it as he's decided to buy that E30 sport i was on about a while back. It has a 1.8 Supercharged Corrado engine in, and the chargers litteraly just been rebuilt. Says he'll flog me that for 1700. That thing would be a serious weapon. Nowt wrong with it other than the bodywork really, which id probably just spray a matt colour anyway. Im pretty tempted.....
