The black heat insulation under my front hood has seen better days. How important is it? If I was to replace it, should I go with one from a dealer or is an equivalent that I could cut to shape available elsewhere? Is there a particular type of glue to use to attach it?

The foam is there for sound reduction. Important to replace for concourse events....not important if you just want to drive your e21.:) not sure what glue they use and as far as replacement foam, I wouldnt just stick anything under there because of the heat involved. Not sure who would have replacemment foam.
