60/40 gets my vote if you can't run to coilovers.

Spax 60/60 is for winners, it's what I ran on my old 316.
My setup lives on, fitted onto Pistonheader's 316.

60/60 does look good and (as rob says) is what i have in my car. it's low, but oddly it doesn't look stupidly low.
it's leagues better than the original suspension for fast road use but i'm not going to lie, it's firm. however, it's far from unbearable and i've probably done about 20,000 miles since i had the suspension kit fitted from rob. going over tall speed bumps IS an issue though and i usually have to crawl over them to save scraping the centre exhaust box. most speed bumps are fine but the tall short ones can be an issue, especially if you have passengers in the car.
given the choice i would PROBABLY go for 40/40, however, i got the 60/60 at a very good price thanks to rob (£250 inc. fitting if i remember correctly!) so just couldn't turn it down.
don't let that put you off though, the 60/60 is a kit i've thoroughly enjoyed having on the E21 and certainly wouldn't revert to the original set up again.
Ross.

Thanks guys!! stance on the 60/60 equipped cars is killer !! I think I've now made my mind - stock suspension was not in my plans with this car LOL, but I was afraid that 60/60 was too much and a harsh ride...if you have some more pics and tips about this setup , please post away !

Im sure people get cheesed off with me and a couple of others plugging the Spax kits whenever a suspension thread comes up (i know it is a spax topic like:)) but the 60/60 PSX kits are fantastic value for money. They have 24 adjustments for the stiffness, i use mine pretty much on the softest and its perfect for road use. I do have to be carful on road humps as the sump sits pretty low, as does the exhaust, but if your careful its fine.

Anyone know whether the spax shock absorbers are the same in the 40 and 60 kits?

Okay. I guess I need to ask them if they sell the springs separately too? If so I could get the 40/40 kit and retain the option to go -60 on front later if I change my mind.
