I would stick with 6x4's and a boot mounted sub tbh. Otherwise you'll need to fabricate mounts or cut holes in the steel parcel shelf. Quality 6x4's still give a good sound with a sub.

I know that Polk (American brand) make several good models of 6x4's available in Aus.
I got mine from a car audio shop in Adelaide (Tonkin's In-car Solutions).
$150 a pair. Great quality. Easy install under stock grille to keep them inconspicuous.
I've been very happy with them, but I agree - they would be more ideal with a sub in the boot.

iv just fitted four 4x6's and a 1400watt sub in the boot, but the only problem is the back shelf and behind the rear seats are a complete tin shell. So alot of the bass is lost in the boot, iv been thinking about cutting some portholes so some of the trapped bass and can move through the car

i Have rear 17 cm sony speakers and in boot 600w bass with amplifier. Front i have 13 cm sony with separate twitters and 50w rms.
I have same problem with bass but i don't want to cut metal.
You should try to found speakers 17cm with more rms i can check sony have ones with 60w rms.. and do some offset of wood on turning machine which you will join on rear panel. on that wood you should also fix your speakers. Check the existing hole on metal so there can pass through speaker magnet.
I do like that. just take a note that offset should be lees is better. Mine is 22mm. And i pain it in black, color of speakers, so it is fit nice.
