I have e21 76'.
i take of propeller shaft from car and I can't change bearing because i can't loosen nut which is connecting two part of pshaft.
I wonder is that nut a torx?
With which key i can loosen that nut and how, because there is no much space around.

Are you talking abuot the collar nut that attaches the universal joint? It should be a 12 point nut, so you should be able to use a ring spanner. M18 is abuot 27mm I think.

I've never had to un-screw this nut, so maybe others have experience.

Cheers

Sure it was a standard 19mm nut when I did mine. I loosened it on the car, had it up on axle stands with the handbarke on. Used a normal ring spanner, you should just be able to get this on the nut, with the open end cut off and a long tube slipped over the end for leverage. Hope this helps, need to do mine again as the bearing I bought off ebay was rubbish quality!

my vote is with alschux'....i seem to remember useing a 19mm ring ..But i think very early cars had a circlip instead of a bolt ! Also it's worth marking the two halfs so they go back together in the same place so the propshaft balance is kept right...edd

Yes i have service manual where is circlip because that i was confused. I have done job yestardy, btw piece of cake. it was 24mm and I used normal spring spanner, not aligned. I need greater force because on manual where is circlip!!? was written that the torque is 180-200 Nm. . On manual on first page there was assembly drawing where is drawn pshaft with nut, on other pages there was circlip. Btw i bought bearing in local car shop they have it, it is no name... price was 20€.... It seems ok :),, i will see about quality later..
Same day i have changed and water pump bought in same shop it have a name i forget wich.. I know that is made in Germany... the price was 30€.
