Seeing as there are now quite a few e21's being used in racing, drifting & trackdays I just thought I would start a dedicated thread with a couple of photos from last weeks Retro Car Magazine day @ Brands Hatch.
Please feel free to add any other photos that show e21's in competition or on track.
Note: vintage pics in a separate thread: http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16486

Good initiative! Do we integrate modern day stuff with vintage material of should we separate that?

OK started a vintage pics topic here:

(will edit first post with that link as well)
More recent is Charles Veillard in his beautifully restored machine at the 2011 German OGP
(more on the OGP in the December issue of TBMW!)

Looks better and faster corners

And you can fit in 10 inch rear wheels= grips better. But you will spend more (much) on rubbers

I need new rubber after Brands Hatch anyway.

Too much understeer through Clearways - the long corner onto the straight.

Understeer? That's weird, could that have to do with your swaybar setup F/R?
What tyre pressure were you using? I get the idea you may have run them too hard.

28psi usually.

Hmmm that's on the high side, but not extreme. I've never run slicks over 26 psi as far as I can remember

It's only that one front tyre that's blistered but I'm going to re set everything over the winter anyway. It's also only running a stock 323 ARB at the moment.

jim when you set them cold you need to take into account the fact the pressures will be higher when the tyre temp rises.
the 28 psi in that tyre will increase to around 36/7 when the tyre is fully up to temp.
it not an exact science but for example, with brands, setting them when cold id go with 21/22psi in the n/s/f, 22/24 psi in the o/s/f and maybe 24 in both rears?
but deffo go out do 3-4 laps to get the tyres up to temp, then come in the pits jump out and check them before they have chance to cool off and then adjust them when hot to the 28 psi all round (or what ever you want them to be when on track and up to temp).
also after this, when they do cool off, take note of what pressures they drop to..... that way you can set the pressures to that when cold, then when your on track and up to temp you know theyre guna be correctish without checking them again.
^^^^^^ hope im making sence with this waffle???
