M10 2.0L conversion from carb to L-Jetronic - can't get work

Hi guys,
recently I had an upgrade with my M10 2.0 engine from solex 32/32 to L-Jetronic system. The complete system was taken from E30 87 or 88 (I am not sure but I think that it's 88) Manifold, engine installation, fuel rail, injectors, air mass sensor etc...whole system for this setup. I have upgraded everything and also finished everything with electric but it just want fire up! All indicators on dashboard are working, I have sparks on spark plugs (I have checked). But... - I don't have any fuel - pump is working for 2 sec after I turn the key on contact (also I have fuel pressure), I have noticed that ECU isn't activating injectors and cold start injectors. I have check all of these injectors and everything is working correctly. I have tried almost everything but it just want fire up. I presume that the problem is with some installation but I think that I have connected everything correctly. Also, I have tried to replace ignition module witch is siemens/Telefunken and still I don't have engine start. The ECU is 0280000328. I thought at the end that the problem is with ECU and maybe with transistor for driving injectors (OM323) but I can't check it because it's Darlington NPN with resistors and diode inside. I have tried to google it - to find somebody who did this conversion but I didn't find anything, just found some pictures. Probably the problem is in front of me but I just can't see it. So...at the end the problem is with injectors (fuel) - the ECU isn't opening them and from that reason engine can't start up :(. This L-Jetronic system is with lambda control - just to let u know guys. At this point I am really desperate because 8 days passed and I still can't get it resolved. If somebody knows something regarding this issue please write here, or maybe if somebody knows for some link with this kind of conversion, please post it here. Thanks a lot!

p.s. If I forgot to mention something I will write it down here.

I got these parts from my friends card, I have took it direct from the car except ECU witch was inside of his workshop. ECU was inside in the box with a lot of other ECUs but my friend told me that this is correct one (it was only that one from L-jectronic). I have checked in Bosch ESI and the number give me - E30 316/318i LEjectronic/Motronic from 84-88. In the meanwhile I have found from another friend another ECU which is 0280000330 and Bosch ESI is also giving the same results except it's only giving 318i from 84-88 Lejectronic/Motronic. I tried to fire up with this one but still nothing :) rrrrr (I thought that maybe my friend mistake with it) and I am still at the beginning :) :(((
I tried to find electrical wiring diagram for this L-jectronic 88' but I can't find it at all. There is everything except this one :) (I have all other manuals Haynes, Bently, BMW but nothing). I have 2 wires witch isn't connected Brown/Yellow 0,75 and White/Green 0,75. I couldn't find out for what kind of purpose these wires are. White/Green is going on pin 22 on ECU and Brown/Yellow on pin 16. I have traced this brown/yellow in ECU and it's going on some LM chip witch is some quad differential amplifier and that wire is some input method (pin 4). I haven't traced this white/green wire... :(

Hi mate - Can't offer any advice as fuel injection and electronics/wiring go right over my head! Have you tried posting at E30zone.net? They may be able to offer better advice re the E30 injection system.

Hi,
thanks for reply. I will try to post there. Maybe later on, somebody will also reply here.

A couple of things to check:
1)Earths - a bad earth might cause the ECU to spike. Make sure they are all tight and the earth leads are not damaged.

2)The ECU might well be the culprit; you're right in saying that its the correct one (serial numbers starting '0280' are for LE-Jet, '0261' are for Motronic), but if it was lying in a box, who knows what kind of heat/moisture it's been subjected to. Try another one and see if that makes a difference.

3)LE-Jetronic (the system you have) differs from Motronic in that the ignition is controlled by a separate ignition module, such as you have - is it the one that came with the injection system as (I think) the E30 ones are different from the E21 ones?

4)I'm assuming you've pulled the fuel supply hose from the front of the fuel rail to check for old flow. If there is no fuel flow, check the fuel pump fuse, then the relay. On cars with LE-Jet the one relay controls the fuel pump and also the injector firing. Without checking a wiring diagram, I bet those two spare wires have something to do with it.

5)If you've checked all of this, then it sounds like your fuel pump might not be working. Again check this is working seperately if you can, but don't make the mistake of running it without fuel - the pump needs the fuel to lubricate them.

Good luck!

At the end I resolved this yesterday!
What was wrong? You will never guess what :) Somehow I had a bug (insect) inside of fuel line! How, when and how that bug came to fuel line I can just presume...Probably entered inside in the moment when I took old motor out - after that moment car was without a motor for 7-10 days and after that I took this 2.0L M10 from my another car and finished everything with mechanic and electric, also with fuel pump, filter installation etc. But...I am wondering now...how did I had a fuel pressure? At the end I took out fuel rail with injectors outside of manifold and after I tried to fire up I just saw that I don't have enough fuel. After that I took compressor and put pressure to 8 bar, went to the back of the car, disconnected fuel pipe from filter and u know what... In one second I just heard on the front - buaaaaaaaaaaam - And pressure with fuel exhaust that bug from the fuel line in the front. I went in the front to see what's up and a saw a bug - something similar to cockroach :))) (I took one empty bottle and put fuel line inside to see the results) and the result was this! Unbelievable... I didn't had this kind of experience till now!!! Just...wow...
After that I have connected everything again and tried to fire up and it was in the moment :) Brmmmmmmm :) :crazy
Again...How did I had fuel pressure???
It's shame I didn't took a photo of this!!! :(
