Hi guys, long time no speak.I've been off trying to get enthusiastic about other marques......no good.
It was easier to kick the dreaded weed! So,i've been looking around at my leisure and i must say, when you've been away from something for a while you appreciate it more.
The E21 is more beautiful than ever to me.Surprisingly parts prices are steady, reassuringly, there are different cars around, both owned and for sale.
I have seen a nice car that i'm serious about so i may be back in the fold soon.
I see the enthusiasm is still as strong.W&N....gold mine....i like it

Good to hear and welcome back! Yeah there are some other beautiful youngtimers around, but if you look at handling, all cost, parts availability and reliability for example BMW just offers a wonderful package!

Exactly.......My only problem is,if you can call it a problem, what colour to go for.
Black or white. There's a clue for you.A nice looking Black 323 or a very tidy White 320A.(very tidy).
Is white the new Black or Black the new White?
I'm confused.Maybe i'll go for the Hennarot 316 or Opalgrun 316 or the Blue Baur 323.
Its a real dilemna but i'll manage.

Always make sure to go for a car that is all you want it to be with all the right options. Usually then there isn't much choice left in colors haha and are there original E21 colors that are a no go?

You may have opened a can of worms there,Jeroen.
What is a "wrong" colour.
I'm gonna be shallow and make the colour the main reason for buying this time.Obviously condition etc will count, too. But with all due respect to owners of Green cars........

Sorry can't let pass. My first car was a 1962 green Mini and I swore since that I would never again own a green car.
I now have an opal green metallic e21 - and I love the colour. I actually thought the car was champagne in the photos - but better than champagne, imho
Alpine White is the best colour - black cars in Australia can be 5 degrees hotter than a white car, which still looks clean long after you've noticed the dirt on your black car...

When I started the search for my first E21 323i my girlfriend asked me what color I'd like. My reply was "anything but green" and I ended up with a green one and I've never regretted it!
Polaris silver was never on top of my list since it's the most common color for an E21, but when I found my Polaris Baur I didn't have to think twice either...

my first car was green - well it was actually a peugeot in "sorrento green" which looked black but flipped green when sunlight hit it. Ive got a grass green daily driver and now i really dont like green anymore.

Hmm. the only problem with white / v.light colours - is flies, and rust are very obvious. we dont have a problem in the uk with heat. its cold here 80% of the year.

My first E21 was Opal Green. My dad said ,"never buy a green car".I didn't have any problems. However,my brothers green Cavalier......engine,gearbox,both broke two weeks before we were due to drive to the South of France. Then, when we got there, after having to run it in for 500 miles with a midnight oil change, the carb went arse up.We got home ,eventually,to the drone of my dad saying,"i told you, never buy a green car".

Are you now comparing an E21 with a Cavalier? Close to the edge of being banned mate!

It was an Opel in all but the badge.Made in Belgium. They still had to order the carb from the UK.My brother tried to set the thing alightit just wouldn't go.
He came home and traded it for a Black 1502.Nice.
