second gear

when to meet mark today at pristine seems like a nice guy.anyway on the way home my car developed a problem with engaging second gear sometimes in goes in sometimes it doesnt when it does go in it only goes in at slow speed then jumps out all other gears seem fine anyone else had these issues.

There is prob more qualified people on here than me but I reckon the box might be fooked. I will have a 323i I will be breaking end of next month, you can have the one out of that if u come and pick it up.

I think it's a bent selector fork. I had an 02 that did the same thing. You could select 2nd but if you came off the throttle and then nailed it again, it would jump out of gear. I had to replace or rebuild the box. Someone with mechanical knowhow may have a better idea?
