Hi from manchester pick mine up in morning

Post by problemchild75 »

Hi all im from Sale in manchester and am picking my e21 up in the morn from devon and I cant wait (well apart from the drive). its a 1983 316 and ive been offered a Webber carb and panel filter for it for a few extra pounds is it worth having? I want to start modding asap and want it low and wide. I deally I would have liked coils but bloody hell they are expensive :shock so would like to know how the -60mm springs would look (pics please) and im thinking deep dish 15 or 16 in alloys (BBS?maybe fakes, OZ turbos or banded steels) but would love to see some pics of your set ups with sizes and offsets to help me decide and get the stance right.

Any way about me im a car nut and these days prefer the more depreciation proof cars and have had loads of old and new BMWs my fav being a 1 owner mint, FBMWSH 1990 318is that was mint that i bought as a trade in from mercedes for £600 and ending up using it everyday for two years and did six trackdays, a skiing trip and a trip to the ring in it without it ever missing a beat. I only sold that because I had 5 BMWs at the time and when I turned up home one sat aft with number 6 (Z3M coupe) the mrs went propely mental, so I sold the e30 for a very tidy profit (new owner rolled it after 2 weeks and wrote it off :( ) and regretted selling it every week for the last 2 years. thus why ive bought an E21, the bmw ive alway wanted.

Definitely. More power & better mpg.

Go wash your mouth out with soap!

Welcome fella, I was watching your car on eBay - looks pretty clean!

-60mm springs look nice and will defo do the job till you get coilovers. If you've got welding skills you could make your own with kit from Rally Design?

Good luck on the trip to Devon tomorrow.

ill need luck with the trip , it better had be clean if I get there and its a nail I wont be happy. I dont really want to waste money on springs if they wont give me the stance im after.
really ill have to wait to see if the cars a keeper or smoker. keeper = bbs and coils. smoker = dare fake BBS and springs (01 on doors, dixie flag on roof and dixie horns lol).
is there a rally design website?

Search (top of page) Spax suspension and you'll find some pics of cars dropped on -60mm springs.

Gary's Henna red auto is on them here iirc

Hello and Welcome Mate

I am local in Manchester as well, but is similar to yours and still totally VIRGIN
But also thinking of BBS and coils so keep up posted as I will be doing the same soon when i find some cash on the street :)

Perhaps we should do a get together in Krispy Kreme car park - Trafford with all the E21 owners near by

Shame it was a shed, but another will turn up in time. Do you specifically want a 316 or are you open to other cars??

I hate that type of journeys
Long trip for a lot of rust

btw: If you are local you can come and check my e21 out
Does have needs here and there but atleast it runs and starts from half a turn and mot'd till next Summer

If you like it and see a potential then maybe you can have it, Only reason is I am not doing it up until I graduate in July

Sadly most trips to check out cars turn out this way... take your time to find a good one.

For obtaining access to the articles section I was only kidding, check here: http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11965
