A new e21

I just wondered if BMW would ever make a new Version of the E21, you know just the same classic shape but improvement on the engine and make a stronger chasis, lighter body more comfortable seats and well just moderniseing it, yet keeping all the classic touch to it.

I think if they ever did, I would buy it...

just a thought.

best regards
Lee

I reckon they think that that is what the current M135i is?

Due to the never ending quest of designing body's with less drag, I don't think they are going to build anything like the E21 again. This morning I saw a review of the new VW Up, about 1000kg and such a shitty small car, sadly that is reality.

But regarding the barn sheds BMW is building (the X-cars) and many other car manufacturers do, there may be a small chance :D

Eventually the E21 will get the cult status of the Ford GT, and can be bought new, like the GT, wich is manufactured in South Africa.

Can someone draw well? I would really like to see an impression of a new E21, with same differences like the old and new GT, Mustang and Charger, wich are in my opinion, nice rebuilds of old cars.

I was lucky enough to do a few laps in a new 1 M coupe at Brands Hatch last year and it was surprising just how much it felt like an earlier 3 series. Obviously it's far more capable and has about 3 times the power, but it was much closer to the size of an e21/e30.

I think BMW missed out by not keeping the shark-front styling running through their more recent designs.

I would defo second that! Moderm Bmws seem to have lost the plot since the E39 IMO

Even those cars built by others with a shark nose catch the eye- the last Capri or more recently the Mitsubishi Gallant VR6 (was it?)

one of the guys has a 123d coupe

i parked next to it and its very near the exact same size as my e21.

Id say that a 1 series coupe is the closest your going to get to an e21

I heard some good reviews with the 1 series, they don't look too bad either, I think they showed a sports version once on Top gear, and said its faster than the M3 so will worth having one. Not exactly like the e21 but I agree the nearest thing, and I all for it, but some how I think BMW won't ever go back to a shark nose nastolgic look, as they may think that customers would think that it was an old car as not everyone would know.
