Fuel lines

Hi, I'm going to replace the fuel pipes from the tank to the pump. Can anyone recommend where to get it from? Or if I should replace like for like, or use something else? The original looks like it aluminium.
Any advise would be great.

They are 8mm steel pipes, i've just replaced mine with 8mm copper pipe. Get a pipe bender is it's easy to kink this stuff.
You'll need to take your tanks off to do it, and don't forget to flare the ends so the rubber pipes can't slip off.

forgive my ignorance do you need to use steel, can you use the braided lines? need to do mine and add a return ;-(

Thanks Jacko. I might use copper myself. I've got some cheap bending and fairing tools. But I have been thinking of getting some braided stainless stuff. I don't know?!

I've just bought a new fuel pipe from BMW from the front to the back. Came pre shaped and wasnt to expensiver really.

whats the part number for these? My bmw dealer says that they are no longer available?!!?

Hi guys, I just ordered a set of of fuel lines from BMW. Probably not the cheapest way to do it!? I'll put up the part numbers in later. £45 for the 2 steel lines.

I paid £46.48. I did ask for discount, the guy said he could as they had to come from Germany. Should be with in 5 days!

You should take some pics as you do it so we can get a photo tutorial up! Especially if you're replacing the fiddly bits behind the fuel tanks etc.

Dutch member Wondermike composed a nice grocery list a while ago for the entire operation. All hoses can be replaced rather easily using the cover under the rear seat and a garage jack. There's only one breather hose on top of the left side tank half that requires that half to be removed. Piece of cake though, only three bolts and the large connecting hose. Make sure it's empty though

(also use abt 7cm between plastic line and steel line above right tank.
I personally left the breather hose from the breather tank to the filler to retain original looks in the trunk, that hose is also less prone to wear anyway.

Check lines between the pump, pressure regulator and fuel filter as well. How old is your fuel filter anyway?
