Gents would appreciate advice as have had 323 engine uprated to long stroke with Shrick cams and full stainless manifold and exhaust but now close to breaking 2nd standard gearbox.
Power and sound is fantastic but now need to upgrade so transmission can take the power, car is only weekend toy but like to use the power where safe.
Any advice or specialists who can supply parts or undertake the work would be greatly appreciated as car needs to be driven.

How much power are you making? I've got 220 brake and a paddle clutch but not had any issues.

Without going on rolling road specialist who did the work believe the same or 210bhp but 2 gearboxes which were ok have failed and stripped cogs and gearbox specialist says cost fortunes to repair and to upgrade transmission to later/better.

You could try finding a bellhousing to run a Getrag 265 with your m20? What are you doing with the car? Drifting or something? It's just that there are several cars here with 200 plus brake and the gearboxes have been fine as I say.
Who did your engine?

Getrag 260 is rated to 260 N/m and Getrag 240 to 240 N/m etc, so well over the power of your engine. In which case it probably has something to do with what use its getting? Either way, it's not likely that engine power alone is breaking your boxes. It's usually diffs and driveshafts that fail first.

Original gearbox seemed ok until engine works done then failed after 3,000 miles and had diffs done at same time, replacement box was decent original. Thanks for the advice will pass onto my specialist OSC Motorsport in Rugby who did the engine work and does all my cars that are not in warranty as he has proven to be honest and reliable.
Here's hoping I can find the gearbox as to be honest once I can get reliable drivetrain want to increase power with turbo.

Jason might be able to offer some advice on workable alternatives. Space will be the limiting factor unless you don't mind fabricating a larger tunnel? Check Duracell's build thread on his race car. He's just fitted an e46 M3 lump & box and it might give you an idea of what's invollved. Both those guys are far more knowledgable on this sort of stuff than I.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for posts and am looking at Duracell's race car details now, would have been cheaper for me to do that in first place but too late now. Will post pictures when car is next out in the sun if that ever happens.

Another option would be to buy the M52 conversion kit that Nas just happens to have spare. It's a pretty simple swap and although I do like an m20 (I did the same conversion as you) my m52 blows it into the weeds.
Look forward to pics. What spec is it? Colour etc?

I will send PM to Nas, have no idea how to upload photos but bought the car 3 years ago from wildest mid wales which took epic trip of planes, trains & drive back of over 450 miles but was sound car with decent refurb but not enough power hence why I did eta upgrade.

Pretty unlikely you have the power to kill the box as it is torque that does them in not bhp, unless you where unlucky to have a couple of bad ones.
A few upgrade choices but all cost a bit the 265 overdive box is bullet proof and good enough for jag v12. Need to use a us spec 525 bellhousing and speedo from an m10 box to fit it. Run a electric speedo more choice e30 325, e34 m20 525 or e34 525tds box.
