Hey Guys,
Ive been having a problem with my e21 for a while. Its a 323i.
At first it was just a miss fire, which soon led to complete stalling on the road on cold start up. Once i was driving and it was warmed up it was fine (it was a nightmare to get to this stage on the road whilst intense miss firing was occuring). If i started it up and left it running it would stall. And the only way to stop it from stalling was to have my foot on the accelerator a bit. If it stalled it wouldn't start for another 5 to 10 minutes. When i try and start it after its stalled it gives a few really loud pops from the exhaust.
Today, I tried starting it and it started, and as i drove it within the first few metres it miss fired. eventually i had to come to a stop at a corner and it completey stalled.
The engine has been cooking before, or so the previous owner admitted.
Anyone know whats going on? Anyone know how i can fix the problem?

Re: e21 Miss firing
Can the ignition be way off or suffering from a leaking or loose vacuum advance hose?
