When I bought my e21 it came with a pretty tattered leather 3 spoke wheel.
in the boot was also a 4 spoke larger steering wheel.

is the 4 spoke one the original?
i have a 316 1981

trying to establish whether its worth re-trimming the leather one.

if i get chance i'l post a pic of my leather one so people can tell me what it's worth.
on the car is this type:

in the boot was this one:

The 4 spoke one you found in the boot is the original for the 316. I like it because it's like piloting a boat with a helm. Also because it has 4 nicely placed horn buttons to allow me to quickly and easily express my anger at the vast number of morons on the roads. :)

Perhaps someone else can help you with info on the 3 spoke..

I believe 4 spoke came on all cars as standard.

3 spoke sports wheel was an optional extra. Worth re-trimming as they're getting rare now...

I couldn't go back to a 4 spoke...

I have a scruffy Genuine Alpina 4 spoke steering wheel that would do someone very well - if only I could photo same and post details etc

there is an earlier thread heresabouts on someone retrimming these for about £120 in soft calf etc
