What does a concrete car park in the East End of London hold for the classic BMW fan?

Image

THIS. Heard about it a while back; one good thing about the Ol#mp#c juggernaut rolling into town is that our Mayor has tacked on a lot of peripheral stuff in the name of tourism. Like BMW bringing nearly all of their art cars over. Oh yeah.

Jenny Holzer, V12 LMR, 1999. Want? I should say:

After all of these years, I finally get to see the legend in the 'flesh that is the Roy Lichtenstein 320 Grp5 from 1977. If it were possible to marry a car:

And what's next to it? Another legend; Andy Warhol's Grp4 M1 from 1979:

...and Ken Dome's work on an identical car. Dontcha wish that some car owners now would have the cast-iron lugnuts to wrap their cars like the Art Cars instead of boring ol' matt blech?

Esther Mahlangu, 525i, 1999. I'd be tempted to do a replica, would be cheap enough; add slam and cheap alloys = win:

Gutted I didn't buy the e3 3.3Lia art car when offered it 20 years ago. Was only £1500 then.

Great, thanks for sharing! I saw most of them over the past years, but never so many together!

Used it for the website's main page

Some of these cars came out to Oz a few years ago including the E21, the Ken Done e30 and the Calder CSL and were displayed in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. It was great to get among the cars, see them up close and enjoy what others had done. Thanks BMW. Hope others enjoy them for years to come.

A few of these came to Singapore a few years back. Brought my boys to see the cars. The relationship manager from BMW Asia, presented me a copy of the BMW Art Car book.
