I'm about to fit the Weber carburettor kit to my 83 E21 316 1800cc and wonder if anyone who has done this mod can offer any advice about the best place to put the choke control knob? The instructions suggest drilling the dash board but where I have looked it appears to be double skinned - the plastic fascia then about 5mm of air space and then metal. Any suggestions would be gratefully received, please!
Cheers!

Mine is Fixed to the underside of the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel (RHD), I check later where it's been fed through n post some pics but it's in the best position!

Mine is in the blank button on the left of the steering column (RHD). Same place as where the rear window heated / rear fog light switches go.

Thanks chaps. As a temporary fix I have attcahed thbe bracket to the metal support for the dash filler which is down by the right loudspeaker kick panel. It's a bit of a reach but doable. Both my heated rear window and fog lamp positions are taken up with those switches. Pleased with carburettor even if the air cleaner fouls the back of the bonnet slightly as the lid is put down. Thought that Weber would have had a lot of practice over the years to get the height of this right!

You should be able to use the factory 'pancake' filter with the Weber if the fouling is causing you any issues.
