323i ICV problem (where is it)

My car has been having trouble with the idle, so far as it stalls. But now it wont start at all!
It turns over and there is fuel getting to it and theres a spark etc.
Could it be down to the ICV?
The car is an e21 323i auto.
I cannot find the ICV, can you point it out in a photo to me ?
Cheers
You help is much appreciated
Harvey

Think we need some more info: when did the problem start? If the car runs, does it feel powerful and runs ok through the revs? Do you feel it misfires, or starts up slowly say on 3 cilinders and slowly getting them all back together? Been on an exhaust gas analyzer? Any difference in running when cold or warm?

Well, i bought the car like it, and the guy said "what it needs is a cold start"
It doesnt stall initially when starting from cold, but then when warmed up it stalls in traffic without me changing between park and drive, the revs are just that low. Since ive had it ive done nothing to it, but the plan was to get it running right.
It all seems to run well when driving its just at low revs when stopped where it has the problems!
Thanks
Harvey

Harvey,
And idle is always low no matter warm or cold engine? Should warm be abt 850-950 rpm in P and perhaps 100 rpm lower in D. Base idle can be set by adjusting the copper screw on top of the throttle body. There is an aux air slide valve fitted underneath the cil #6 intake manifold that works as the ICV. There are two versions, an electrical one used up to production Jul 81 and a mechanical version used after.
One warning on these auto boxes: after driving, don't put her in P again and start revving the engine as it will ruin the gearbox. If there's any reason to rev the engine when doing adjustments, do that after a cold start without having used the gearbox.
