Hey guys, first post here, (but long time lurker), so greetings to all of you E21 lovers!

First of all let me say that my grammar its not that good, but i will try my best.

Ok, so i just "finish" the restoration of my 1984 E21 315. One of the parts that i had to change was the engine, so i bought an e21 316 to achieve that, and now i have a few extra hp ;)
It always belong to our family, but my grandfather gave it to me a few weeks before he passed way, and man how he loved this car! All that love for it make the restoration a lot easier, because it was in really great shape (apart from the engine that died with only 70.000km..). I din't had the chance yet to take pictures, but im planning to do it in the next few days.

I have a few questions, witch hopefully some of you might be able to help me..:

First one is about gearbox types - I've been searching for hours, with no luck, tryin to know if the gearbox of an 316 E30 with M10 engine will fit on my E21. Below there's a few pictures of the E30 gearbox that i might get, in case it fits

316 E21 overdrive gearbox's, or any other for our beloved model are really hard to come by where i leave, Portugal, so i am tryin to get a decent alternative as i find the 4-speed gearbox really annoying, with very high fuel consumption..
Any ideas?

And lastly, can anyone give me some info about the steering wheel fitted on Mr. Jeroen E21 Bauer's?

Best regards
H. Matias

Welcome! Thanks for the story mate, many reasons to hang on to this precious car!

As for the gearbox, you can find more info here: http://www.bmwe21.net/?page_id=124
That page also tells you that the E30 gearbox does not have the connection to drive your mechanical speedometer.

The steering wheel is the one used in the E26 M1, but was available for the E21 as an optional extra. They are rare, but not impossible to find, just need patience!

Do you guys think these Recaros fit on E21? they look similar to E21 original recaro's, and i have the chance to get them for cheap on my living area
Ps.: I am looking for factory looking, not tuning looking :smoke

Hi
Looks like you will have trouble with the seat runners.
