E21 dual weber 40 dcoe

Hi all
I am having a bit of trouble with cold starting on my dual 40 dcoe webers,i would go to start it and having to sit in the car and turning it over while rapidly pressing the pedal to get it started, I have look at the webers a closely and found I have a mechanical cold start unit after pulling them back fully on both carbs and trying to start it, it made starting it much worse and I'm not sure where to go next ?

No choke? I've got a pair of twin 40's on an M10. It can be a bit sluggish to get going in winter, but normally starts on the first turn of the key with the choke pulled only a tiny way out.
Are you sure you're not pumping the accelerator too much? One or two pumps of the accelerator at most before starting, otherwise I think they end up flooding and it takes about 5 starts for them to clear and the engine to fire - at least for me anyway.

Might be pumping too much I'm not sure, I didn't realize that the choke only had to be a Little way out I thought it had to be flat out open

I've not been using any choke for the last 5 months - in fact it's disconnected at the moment.
If no luck it's probably worth checking the fuel pump/filter, valve clearances, timing and carb mixture.

I will have a look tonight put the timing light on and see what it is,also how do you adjust the carb mixture adjusting one of the screws on the carb ?

After making a choke linkage and installing a choke cable it Made cold starting a 10/10 improvement,also the timing was out so that didn't help the situation

Yeah, use the mixture screws. It can be a bit of a bitch balancing dual carbs so you might want to take it to a specialist. Not sure where you're located but a few people on here have recommended Bogg Bros in the NW.
Glad you fixed the starting issues.
