Engine not starting

Okay, my 316 isn't starting.

I'm currently under the bonnet trying to solve the issue.

It cranks over with no issues.

It's getting fuel, as I've checked the fuel line and it pumps fuel out when you crank it.

It's getting spark as I've checked all the spark plugs against the block, and they all spark.

The choke moves, but I'm not sure if its working correctly, how do I check? Currently taking the top off the Carb to have a look around inside.

Anything else I can be checking?

Really could do with some help?? I'm in south manchester if anyone is local and free? Mobile number is 07588663129 if anyone is free and is willing to help. I'm properly stumped at the moment :(

I believe that you have the first type of 316 with the solex 32/32 DIDTA carb?

You must check the opening of the Chokevalve. When it is around the 3mm it is OK. There is a conectionrod which controls the valve and has two nuts. One at each side. With them you can change the opening of the valve and the high idle rpm of approx. 1900-2000 rpm.

You can check also if the inner of the housing at the side which holds the two coolwaterhoses moves and makes sure the it opens the chokevalve. Inside the housing is a bimetal spring.

You can check the electric/magnetic idle valve. It is the round thing that is inserted in the carb and has an electric connection. If you switch on the power (with the ignition) and you remove the wire you must hear a click.
If this doesn't react the engine will not idle at all.

These are some checkpoints, hope it will help you some.
