And really BAD roads ...

If roads are BAD, than don't touch suspension. maybe change bushings...

I already have Billies and Apex, and, apart from looks, I am not very happy...

What don't you like about current set-up?

Very low + Very stiff, and greek roads have big bumps and potholes, and lots of them. Whenever one of my wheels fall on one (pothole) or climb one (bump) the noise produced is that type of noise that makes you sure something's broken or hit. I am sure each time my car hurts... at least it has a really difficult moment

If I were you I would go for softer springs with uprated dampers. You could either get softer custom springs (with a lower ride height) or the cheaper GHA coilovers? The benefit with coilovers being that you can a) change spring rates till you find the one's you like best and b) change the ride height whenever you like. The springs for coilovers are cheap and if you buy used one's, you could mess about with rates.

Apart from that just renew all the rubber bushes and keep the suspension working as it should. Another option would be to run 70 profile tyres. Low profiles look cool and aid ultimate handling but this is a road car and the added flex in the tyre wall would help in dealing with potholes etc

Just my opinion.

Me voted for the Bilstein/Apex combi. Still not optimal but softer then Bilstein/H&R setup.

With some sporty driving the H&R is much much better, with Apex the car first sets his behind and you feel that in the car when you hit a corner.
I have to say it's a Baur so i was looking for something smoother for driving pleasure and i'm very pleased. From hearing you could use Bilsteins with 315 normal front springs also for a nice height and comfort.

Greek roads can't be worse then the Belgian roads imho.

Any ideas about the Eibach springs?

With the Eibach springs the front of the car is a bit higher but maybe Jeroen can share his experience with us.
His Baur is on Eibachs. (And we all know how critical he is so that's a +1 for the eibachs then )

I have no idea if there are different spring versions for 4 pot and 6 pot engines for any brand.

Most brands supply one spring for all engines. Yes I use Eibachs but the uprated ones that are made for the E21 B6. With the lighter M20 engine up front that means that the car sit pretty high at the front, something I find ok, never problems with bad roads. But try to find another set of these.

But I agree with Wondermike, if you want things less stiff and a little more ride height, you might want to go for fresh stock springs combined with the Bilstein dampers. In that way you can also stick to 15" tyres as I personally find 13" too soft for some spirited driving. But the other way around can be tried as well as suggested by Mark. Leave the suspension setup like it is and borrow a set of 13" from another E21 fanatic. That's the easiest test I guess. Coilovers give you more flexibility but I think it can be quite a time consuming search to get the right setup and springs combined.

I wouldn't try to find big differences in other brands of lowering springs, that will only have minor implications and won't solve what you dislike at the moment. Well dislike, what the Greek roads force upon you I guess.

Finally, yeah the Belgian roads can be pretty horrible especially in the south, but I can imagine the roads in Greece can be compared more to those in Romania where I did a fair share of driving and yes, it's hard to believe but those roads are worse than those in Belgium.

Well it 's about a new set of Eibachs that the guy from France (the one selling the footrest) is selling. I don't know if they are the uprated type, he says the are OK for my car. And I was thinking that, at least here in Greece, as far as I remember when I was a kid, all E21 drivers were upgrading for Eibachs back then. When I upgraded to Apex, it was just because Eibachs were not produced anymore. But then I wasn't a member in any forum. Now that I know a lot more options, I can't decide which one to go for...
