How can i tell if its a genuine special edtion ie numbers etc logbook

I am not sure if there are any vin numbers kept. I believe there was 160 even though everyone thinks the number is 200. Put it this way, if it is two tone, has a Recaro interior, a bbs front spoiler, bbs Mahles and a sports steering you are pretty much there. If it has all these, even if it didn't leave the factory as one, it is now and not sure anyone could tell you any different.

i thought they would have a special id number or something reason im asking is i know where there is one thats due to be scrapped but the guy who owns has no logbook it has all the bits well did have till it was stripped apart from the lsd but the shell dont look to be in that bad condition hes offered me the shell for next to nothing was thinking of having it and building it back up but then it wouldnt really be a special would it

Just take the vin plate and cut out the vin number. Lol

was thinking of that but im not sure about the history of the car i bought a mk1 escort years ago without a logbook and dvla wouldnt issue me with another one so had to use a donor car

Just apply for a v5 when you have the numbers off the car. Simple.

Did that before with the mk1 im on about and they wouldnt issue one god knows why the special im on about hasnt been on the road for over 15 yrs but i will speak to dvla and see how to sort this

I may be wrong (as often happens) but I don't think specials came with LSD's.

I think they did...but i can be wrong more than right lately too.

french ones came with lsd

I've seen a couple of UK cars without them but I guess they may have been removed at some point in their lifetimes.

Typical of uk ones not to get the goodies.

Nar, despite common belief the LSD was not standard. I have the standard spec and its not listed.
