Hi,

I thought I would use the Easter break to change the timing belt on my Baur. Apart from the woe of sheared studs and rusted nuts it was going to plan until...presented with the naked cam belt assembly set up in #1 TDC I got too keen and popped the belt off without marking the distributor idler pulley. When squeazing the belt out the pulley moved! I think only a tooth. Would I be correct in assuming that if I haven't touched the distributor, with the cam pulley and crank pulley in #1 TDC the rotor arm should align with #1 peg on the distributor cap?
Any information would be gratefully received.

BTW - I have the history for the car and the timing belt which is a BMW original was fitted in 1993!!

Up-date; I may have got my answer, but feedback would be welcome, there is a notch on the dizzy body which apparently marks #1 TDC if all the other marks are aligned to TDC, so all is well  - I hope....

Called the good chaps at FritzBits and they confirmed my findings were correct - she'll be back together tomorrow; with no further issues.
