Head Gasket Failure or Fuel Pump Failure????

Hi, any assistance /advice will be gratefully received. I have a 320/6 with a Weber replacement carb.
This afternoon I was putting the car back into the garage after a spin out with the family and could "feel" that the ilde was slightly rough - It usually runs smooth, but a bit rich. I tried to adjust the mixture to take away the light hunting (Weber 38 DGAS) and couldn't without winding the screws out so far that the idle speed was 1000rpm.
I noticed then that the expansion tank was full to the top - I had previously filled it to the top KALT mark, I released the cap to the first notch and a small amount of coolant exited through the overflow pipe - the temperature was at its norm through out the journey and the heater was blowing hot. There was no apparent trace of oil in the water and the cap was clean as was the oil filler cap.

I have had some problems with the fuel pump during the last 2yrs or so; leaking fuel, inlet tube came away from body of pump etc. I have recently upped the idle jets from 55s to 60s to assist in preventing surging at idle which may hint at a failing pump.

Could I have your thoughts on the rising coolant issue, and the fuel pump(?).

Many thanks, Simon.
