Exhaust not fitting

Hi Guys,
I ordered a stock exhaust for my 1977 BMW 320i and it is not fitting. The downpipe hits the firewall and the resenator looks like it needs a 90 deg elbow to fit onto the downpipe. Do all 77-83 BMW stock exhaust fit the same besides the shorter downpipe on the 77? Any ideas?
Thanks

What parts do you have? Part nos please. Is the car a US spec or Euro spec? LHD or RHD? Last 7 digits of the VIN may be helpful.
Further, there are differences between series 1 and 2 and there is a special version for California spec series 1 cars. The differences apply to both the downpipes and the centre box.

Hi Jeroen,
Part numbers for the center resanator & rear muffler are •18121 245 824 •18121 245 845. Downpipe •18111 245 203. To my knowledge it is US Spec left hand drive. (The car is at a shop, I am waiting on last 7 digits of vin) Thanks

For a US LHD 320i, 18121 245 824 is the correct rear muffler and the 18111 245 203 the right downpipe, but the centre box should then be the 18121 245 614.
Did a search but can't find the 18121 245 845 anywhere in BMW ETK. But you mention the downpipe hitting the firewall, is that when its connected to the centre box or when connected to the exhaust manifold? From the exh manifold down it should be ok. Looks to me like the centre box is messing things up?

Thanks Jeroen, the centre box is the problem. I will have to get a new one. The downpipe still hits the firewall when just hooked up to the minifold. I can still make it work but, the person who sent me the full exhaust sent me the wrong centre box so it could still be the wrong downpipe.

Downpipe should resemble nr 1 on image below, not sure but nr 2 looks like an E30 part and is likely to hit the firewall indeed
