Driveshaft questions

The diff end of my driveshaft was messed while I was towing my car, story for a different time.

I can either get another driveshaft and replace the whole unit, or swap out the end flange that attaches the shaft to the differential imput.

If I swap out the flange, does the shaft need to be rebalanced?

If I swap out the whole flange, the manual mentions an alignment tool where do I get one of these tools, or can I make one?

Thank You.

take it all to a prop shop and they should be able to repair it, but if I was you it would be faster and easier just to buy a whole second hand one.

Are the U-joints typically replaceable?

I have complete shaft from a junk yard, but there is apparently some special tool to align a replacement shaft that has not been previously installed in the car. Are there specs to make the tool somewhere?

Don;t think I ever aligned in the two or three times I've replaced. Just make sure there's some forward tension on the centre bearing when installing.

You don't need special tools. If you look at your shaft there are weights welded on. If make the propshaft using different halves then you have to get it rebalanced at a prop shaft shop. It won't cost much.

If you don't you will find it vibrates a lot, and it will irritate you. You will then have to take it off and you don't need more work.
