Just need a little bit of advice on this one because I don't want to damage the paint by using the wrong method or tool ( big F O screwdriver ) to remove the front and back BMW roundel badges.

Hi. Always weary about using a screwdriver and that's why I'd rather leave it to a bodyshop guy to remove it. However,

might help :)

Do the E21 badges just pop off like the later ones that the two pins sit in plastic grommets?

I used a bit of fishing line. Slide underneath the badge and pull.

I have a small plastic tool to reduce the chance of damage but you may want to use some tape to protect the paint as well.

But, afaik you can reach the pins of both badges from the back, from the inside of the hood and the trunklid. That'll be the safest way, especially if someone decided to glue the badges.
