Is this a Baur?

Hello to everyone, great site, this is my first post after lurking for a while. I have been on the lookout for a nice Baur for some time now but had no luck. I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this E21 on Ebay, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281213835792? ... 1438.l2649 .If link doesn't work type in "1982 BMW E21 Convertible". it is only about 20 miles from me so I am thinking of having a look. However, it doesn't seem to be a "proper" Baur as there are no roof bars or side panels and my question is, would this car have been converted professionally by BMW before it left the factory or has it been done aftermarket? I think it has been knocking about in Cambridgeshire area and been up for sale in the past, last time I don't think it had an mot.

Doesn't look like a Baur. Could be a Peters? I'll bet Jeroen can tell you.
Take a look in the gallery at some of the Peters cab's & the beautiful Lumma to get more idea.

I did look at that ad myself. But the sellers description seems a little bit vague. If you're still interested I'd definitely want to go & take a good look, ask a ton of questions & if possible take along someone who has experience of E21's & their common problems. 'little issues' always end up costing big bucks in my experience...

That would be my idea. If a take a look at the pic I don't get any warm feelings, I just sense a project that needs a lot of time and money. Looks like one's private project and defo is no Baur as they never did fully convertibles.

Thanks to you both for the advice, had no idea of any other conversions except for Baur!. I spoke to the owner who said it is not available for daylight viewing until the weekend, it sounds a genuine car but I think I will pass, there is a bit too much for me to do to.
