Weber on 316 - vacuum hoses and spare wiring

Hi there, just fitted a weber 32/34 on my 316 and its apparent there are no electrical connections like the original carb and there are less vacuum ports too. I have removed all of the old vacuum hoses as they needed replacing anyway, so im just wondering,

1. Where do all the vacuum lines go to/from?
2. Do the spare electrical connectors just need tucking out of the way?

Thanks in advance, Dan.

I'm also unsure on the positions of HT leads, which ports on the dizzy go to which cylinder?

Hi Dan,

As far as I remember the vacuum lines goes as follows:

Advance line goes from the front of the can on the distributor (port is angled down at an angle) to the single port on you weber carb (I believe there is only one now?)

Retard line goes from the port on the back of the dizzy can (port goes straight backwards) to a port on the intake manifold (anywhere below the carburettor butterfly should be fine for vacuum retard). If there is more than one port on the manifold, block off any spare ones or feed them both to the vacuum retard via a T.

Regarding the dizzy, as long as you haven't removed the distributor, get the engine round to TDC according to the pointer on the timing cover and mark on the pulley and take the distributor cap off. Wherever the rotor is pointing is plug lead 1. The order is then 1342 going anticlockwise if you have a later car.

Hope this helps,

Al
