So, finally it is time to write up the last chapters of this restauration. It is April 2018. Summer is around the corner, as it is today. I recieved the last two clamps for the airfilterbox. After placing those I could fit the filterbox and fueldistributor.

Image

Putting all six of the fuel lines in the right spot was a bit of a hassle.

Image

After that is was time to refurb the propshaft. For reasons that are not entirely clear until today I couldn’t put my selve to this chore. But since I need it, I’d had to get on with it.

The bolt in the joint removed so I could seperate the two pieces. A flat wrench 19 is a tight fit, but it goes. Be sure to mark the two pieces, so you can fit it back together exactly the same way.

After that I snded, derusted and painted them. See my boattrailer. And more in front of the pic the hanging parts.

A few days and several layers of epoxy and I have a nice propshaft. Fitted a new supportbearing. To guide it home, I used a 40mm diameter piece of plastic pipe. Fits great and I could tap the bearing home. Like I said, it need to be reassembled in exactly the same way, if not chances are that you will encounter severe disbalance in that propshaft.

At the gearboxside, where teh hardydisc is mounted sits a small bearing in the shaft. To get the old one out is a pain in the ass, but it is highly recommendable to replace it. Beware of the fact that it sticks out 3 to 4 mm.

And that’s how we get to a refurbished propshaft.

Propshaft done, so it was Auspuffzeit. All of the mufflers are in pretty good condition, but they could do with a round of fresh paint.

The frontpipes, from the manifold to the middle muffler were heavily corroded, so I bought NOS ones.

So, then I have the propshaft and exhaust ready. Time to get out the steering rack. Freshly refurbished, other parts like tie rods where already in the house, but it still needed assembly.

Propshaft back to where it belongs

Image

Oil in the box 😉

And I fitted the last missing link for the clutch. The copperline meets a piece of flex line. Where the two meet up is a bracket bolted on the front of the gearbox. But ofcourse, that is gone. I was lucky to get one from my good friend Jan.

New distributor cap, NLA, but I found NOS

New Bosch rotor too.

Mounted the freshly rebuild front brake brackets, ofcourse with that one adapted pad with indicator.
