Wiper Arm - losing connection

Hi again everyone

My driver side wiper arm seems to be coming disconnected somehow at the base where it joins the plastic bracket/mounting... it actually managed to throw the arm off the screen at one point, now the motor runs but the arm barely moves at all. Motors seem fine, though.

I can't easily see how the arm is meant to engage, there's a central column which it is attached to but the motor just makes that column spin inside the arm itself - odd.

Just wondered if anyone has come across this and knows of a fix? To save me buying a replacement.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

If my old one is still at Pristine you can have it for free, as I run a single wiper.

Hi Mark

Thanks for that, very kind :)

So in your opinion it'll definitely need replacing then? It just seems to be slack/loose on the bracket, I can spin it a full revolution without any force at all.

Is Pristine in Milton Keynes?

Thanks again

I'm not sure? Can you upload a short video?

Pristine are in Essex, but am heading over there later in the week, so can take a look?

Sounds like the nut on the arm was loose, it's allowed the teeth on the spindle to spin inside the arm and chew it up so it won't now tighten up. In which case the arm is buggered.

I should have put more effort in before starting this thread.....

So it's now fixed, I flipped open the plastic cover at the base and there's a 13mm nut which just needed tightening up, problem solved!

Thanks for the help/offers/advice all the same :)
