just wondering what guys that have done a M50/52 conversion use as an intake (elbow) boot? Due to the original M50 boot not having the room to fit and because of the idle regulating valve that plugs into the original boot I'm finding it a bit of a pain to get around this boot dilemma neatly.
I saw this and thought it might work?

A generic one and cut it down.

Oh really that's awesome! What happens with the idle reg? where did you plumb yours into?
Oh and just incase there is any confusion as i was a little vague my engine is an m50tu out of a 1994 e34.

after some deliberation I have come to the conclusion that the engine could not run properly if the idle valve wasn't get metered air to regulate accordingly, please correct me if I'm wrong? I'm really intrigued as to what your set up looks like nas80.

I made a hole in the intake boot and pushed the hose joiner in. as the hole is smaller then the joiner is the silicone stretches around the joiner holding it in place..

Yea icv has to be after the maf

Ahh it all makes sense now!!!I thought when you said "cut it down" you just meant shorten the boot to make it turn the corner. thanks for explaining nas80

You do need to cut one of the legs down, theres enough after the bend to make a seal around the throttle body

Im all over the shortening of the boot, it was just the icv positioning that was giving me grief.

Oh also nas80 (my last question I promise haha) or anyone else that knows.
What is the required id of the universal boot, 76mm both ends? its a e34 m50tu with a standard maf and throttle body. I would check myself but my car is on the other side of town, locked in a mates shed and he is away over the Easter break.

I got an m50 throttle body here I'll measure but I reckon its 3"

yea from memory it was 76mm (3").
I should be able to get to my car late this week so don't stress if you can't.

It's 3" or 75mm

Also if you go hunting for pics of my bay you'll see my engine is at the original angle as I got rid of the servo. Which means I didn't have to cut my intake bend down as much.

I just cut down the original and glued it back together worked fine for me will stick up a pic when i get a chance
